Fort George Brewery

Type: Production Brewery

Conversion of a mid-century seafood can warehouse on the Astoria waterfront into a production brewery and distribution hub for Oregon's iconic Fort George Brewery. The building once manufactured cans for the historic Elmore Cannery; the renovation returns canning to the site, this time for beer. Glass overhead doors on the river elevation ventilate the production floor and open views of the brewery to pedestrians on the Riverwalk. Planning efforts with Fort George explored uses for the 4-building complex under their stewardship and laid the groundwork for the opening of the Beer Pier - a seasonal pop-up activiation of an old pier stretching into the Columbia River just below the Astoria-Megler bridge.
